SUMMARY:Historic Places Day 2026 - Deciphering Modes of Communication: Morse Code & Victorian Photography
DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebrating Historic Places Day 2026 on Sunday July 12 from 11am to 4pm with a special exhibit guided by Antique Photography Historian\, Peter Lowrey\, with a feature on Morse Code and Antique Photography! \n\n\n\nAdmission is by donation. \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme\, Communication Through Place and Time\, invites us to explore how people have shared ideas\, stories\, skills and knowledge across generations—and how historic places have made those connections possible. From oral traditions\, crafts\, and handwritten letters to telegraphs\, telephones\, and digital media\, places have always been at the heart of how we communicate. \n\n\n\nThe theme also marks the 150th anniversary of the first telephone call\, patented in Canada by Alexander Graham Bell\, an invention that transformed how distance and time shape human connection. \n\n\n\nTogether\, these stories remind us that historic places are not just where history happened\, but where conversations – past\, present\, and future – continue to unfold. \n\n\n\nTo learn more about events taking place across the country for Historic Places Day\, visit https://historicplacesdays.ca/
