Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra returns to the Roedde House this fall for a fusion of Celtic & Persian music in an intimate concert experience in our historical Victorian parlour!

Musician Amy Stephen plays celtic harp, accordion and penny whistle, and Amir Haghighi is a Persian traditional singer. Together, Amir and Amy create a sound that blends elements of authentic Persian and Celtic folk traditions and reaches hearts across all borders.

Tea and Cookies will be served at the end of the concert.

Ticket holders should arrive no later than 10 minutes before showtime to secure seats.
Seating is limited.

Artist Bios:

Amy is a founder of internationally acclaimed celtic ensemble Mad Pudding, and she also performs solo and with other ensembles including Winter Harp, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, and the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra. Amir learned traditional Persian singing in his native Iran, and since moving to Canada, has performed with many Persian and cultural fusion ensembles, as well as at festivals and concert series in Canada and the US.  Amy and Amir have been members of the Vancouver World Music Collective, and both were featured as composers in the award-winning Canadian documentary, “Music for a New World”. Their recordings can be found at www.amystephenmusic.com

About VICO:

Since repertoire for the VICO’s unusual and diverse instrumentation does not already exist, creating new work is an integral component of all our programming. Developing new commissions (over 50 new Canadian works since 2001, and counting!) provides a necessary framework for bringing musicians and composers together to learn from each other, in a uniquely collaborative process. Since its inaugural performance in 2001, the VICO has developed and performed over 50 new intercultural pieces by ground-breaking Canadian composers.
