Come join us outdoors on the Roedde House porch on Thursday July 17 at 7pm with a performance by Vancouver Inter-cultural Orchestra featuring: Dailin Hsieh (Zheng) & Ali Razmir (Tar).
Come and enjoy an evening outdoors with a fusion of Chinese & Persian folk music! The performers will be on the side porch of Roedde House Museum which faces the lawn space of Barclay Heritage Square Park. Donations collected will go towards the continuation of our programming and directly supports the artists we engage.
MORE ABOUT THE FEATURED ENSEMBLE
Ali Razmi is a gifted Tar & Setar player who obtained his Master’s Degree in music from The Art University of Tehran in 2006. Since his arrival to Canada in 2007 he is a roster member of the Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra and has done workshops and concerts with well known musicians from all around the world. He has toured 29 cities in Italy with Orchestra Familia, appeared at the Jahan e Khusrau music festival in New Delhi with Rumi Ensemble. He has performed with Abida Parveen, Saaz o Raaz Ensemble (Indian Persian fusion), Ali Razmi Persian Jazz ensemble, Vashhan ensemble (folk), Qalandar ensemble (Arabic and Persian jazz), and solo playing at The Art Museum of Dallas, as well as Sufi music with whirling dervishes at The Agha Khan Museum in Toronto.
Dailin Hsieh (Zheng)
Dailin is a vibrant Zheng player based in Vancouver. She graduated from Taiwan’s National Tainan University of the Arts and received a Master’s Degree in Ethnomusicology from National Taiwan Normal University. Aside from receiving numerous awards for her artistry, she has premiered numerous groundbreaking works by Taiwanese and Canadian composers to critical acclaim. Dailin has performed as a soloist with Turning Point Ensemble, Allegra Chamber Orchestra,Taipei Municipal Chinese Orchestra and Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra (Taiwan & European/China/Canada tours). Dailin is a member of the JUNO nominated Orchid Ensemble, Naadaleela Ensemble, Sound of Dragon Ensemble, BC Chinese Music Ensemble, 88 Strings and Sounds Global Ensemble. And she is currently cooperating with Music on Main, Vancouver Inter-cultural Orchestra and BC Chinese Orchestra. Dailin’s solo CD Zheng Image (2014) featured original Taiwanese compositions.
謝岱霖
台灣古箏演奏家,畢業於國立台灣師範大學民族音樂研究所碩士,國立臺南藝術大學中國音樂學系學士。謝岱霖近年活躍於國際音樂舞台,自2019年起移居加拿大,積極與當地樂團合作,熱衷於箏樂與跨文化藝術交流。現為溫哥華蘭韻樂團(Orchid Ensemble)、龍吟滄海樂團(Sound of Dragon Ensemble)、青山雨霖樂團(Qing Ensemble)、娜達里拉樂團(Naadaleela Ensemble)、庇詩華夏樂團(BC Chinese Music Ensemble)古箏演奏家,並與溫哥華跨文化樂團(Vancouver Inter-culture Orchestra)、Music on Main等音樂組織有不定期合作。謝岱霖自幼受系統音樂教育訓練,熱衷於探索傳統與新作品及新技法,其對作品質量及演奏技術有著嚴格的自我要求,喜愛探討音樂的內在層次,同時也致力於大溫地區的古箏
教學,希望藉由學習古箏帶給學員生活中的樂趣與享受。
